On May 26, myMatrixx President and CEO Mike Cirillo joined a panel of industry leaders as part of the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference’s (NWCDC) ongoing Digital Sessions Series. The Webinar, “From ‘Closed for Business’ to ‘Open for Resilience” covered the current evolution of the workforce as employers work toward a new level of normalcy. Joining Cirillo were Tom Warsop, CEO of One Call, Jennifer Saddy, Managing Director, Absence Management at American Airlines, and Dave Taylor Senior Director, Workers’ Compensation of Charter Communications.

The panel, moderated by Michelle Kerr Chair, National Comp; Workers’ Compensation Editor, Risk & Insurance, spanned a broad range of topics that companies are facing in this new environment. In returning to job sites, the leaders shared experiences about what safety measures to put in place and for how long, as well as what they’ve learned from the last year of remote work. Cirillo was proud to share that myMatrixx has measured increases in productivity and employee engagement despite the challenges brought on by the past year.

There was also a discussion of new injury risks related to remote work and the importance of ergonomics in the home office setting. Another important topic was how the pandemic put an increased emphasis on mental health, with Cirillo providing insights shared by clients as well as from the myMatrixx team. He stressed that nonpharmacological treatments, including coaching, counseling and a culture of empathy, were showing positive results in many situations.

Other areas of discussion included how to keep injury rates down as workers return to job sites, organizational vaccine policies and how to respond to outbreaks if they occur. As each of the leaders shared their closing thoughts, Cirillo stressed the need for innovation and an overall people-centric approach in this changed and changing environment
