myMatrixx Chief Clinical Officer Phil Walls, RPh, and Michael Nguyen, PharmD, CPh, recently published the research paper, “It’s Not Just Heroin Anymore: Evolving Role of Fentanyl in Drug Overdose.” While deaths from heroin overdose continue to rise, the misuse of legal and illegal fentanyl has become a major problem throughout the United States, particularly in states east of the Mississippi River. This research paper looks at the history of both, the reasons for the increase in misuse and overdoses and offers potential solutions to this growing problem.
