On Wednesday, January 27th, myMatrixx Chief Clinical Officer, Phil Walls, will join the Hartford’s Chief Medical Officer, Adam L. Seidner, in a virtual session for the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference (NWCDC). The event, “What’s a Doctor to Do: Alternatives to Opioids in the Management of Pain,” will focus on the importance of pharmacovigilance and the use of pharmaceutical data to minimize risk in drug therapy. The industry has made great strides in the last decade in the fight against the opioid crisis, but it is important to remain vigilant as new treatments for chronic pain come on the horizon.
During the one-hour panel, Walls and Dr. Seidner will go in-depth on a range of topics, including how prescribers should best weigh risk versus benefit in regard to drug therapy, particularly as it applies to replacements to opioids such as NSAIDS, benzodiazepines and gabapentinoids. The two experts will also examine the importance of behavioral and psychological care and the close relationship it shares with chronic pain.
